The initial days of writing a thesis proposal can be quite overwhelming and stressful. You may experience variable traps and challenges. The path ahead will indeed be complex and challenging for you when you will write down all your arguments and thoughts in your paper. However, those challenges will only lead you to one of the greatest successes of your career.

Remember, the process of writing may seem annoying to you at first but learning about all those hurdles and traps will help you to ease down your journey.

However, there are a few common mistakes that are worth remembering while writing down your research paper to make it more smother and readable, we bring some of the common mistakes that we, as professionals have noticed in variable papers.

    Choosing poor topic

Students often make the mistake of choosing the wrong topic. They often chose topics that they found interesting in the beginning only. Sometimes they choose a topic that is extraordinarily different and lacks research material for it on any of the platforms. All these factors will only lead you to a poor position.

Try avoiding the topic that is typically “academic” to gain an impression on other people. You will only end up boring yourself and your potential.

Remember you can always consult your supervisor or your professor for your further Thesis help.

    Neglecting enough research

A substantial amount of research is vital for whatsoever topic you’re writing about. Enough research on your topic will only benefit you in the best way possible; it will open up a rich haul of ideas for you. It will eventually help you to focus on new innovative ideas and form solid arguments. However, insufficient research and lacking backed-up arguments will only undermine your proposal. Another common mistake that students make, is conducting research, but not in a comprehensive way. You need to research extensively about your topic, be it through the internet, books, other materials, etc, reading more and more about your topic will only help you to gain an unlimited amount of knowledge about your topic, which will surely enhance the quality of your proposal.

    Performing too much research

Researching your topic is undoubtedly the most vital thing while preparing your thesis proposal. But when the student starts to conduct ongoing research, he/she is supposed to know when to stop. It will only end up with you falling off track from your topic. Know that when you are a Ph.D. student you already have so much information and knowledge regarding your respective subject. You should not try to waste your time collecting excessive pieces of information. Rather than that you need to focus on the precise matters in which you lack knowledge. Stay focused on the central idea, don’t lose focus.

Don’t let yourself fall into the trap of irrelevant and unnecessary ideas. They will only make an impression of “fillers” and hence will become obsolete content.

    Stop procrastinating and start writing!

If you are a Ph.D. student, you must know the average length of a thesis paper is between 5000-8000 words.. This length may vary according to the topic you are writing. This means with classes and other responsibilities you have a lot of work to do. Remember, leaving your writing to the last minute will only make your paper ineffective with numerous grammatical mistakes that you surely don’t want!

Try to consider making notes and jotting down important bullet points of all the main issues and arguments you want to raise in your Thesis paper. Start with writing a few words per day. This will help you to at least write something instead of just staring at blank pages.

You are supposed to submit drafts and give your supervisors and other readers enough time to read and digest them. Acting on their feedback will take some time too. If you will rush, you might end up making careless errors, and thus you won’t even have enough time to convey a true distinctive insight in your work.

Hence, if you will rush with your writing, you will only end up making your paper unreliable and unattractive.

    Plagiarized content

Even the most skilled writer can slip up if they are not cautious about their writing, so try following a more organized writing process. Keep in mind all the necessary specified guidelines and instructions. Using plagiarized content can jeopardize your reputation in front of your supervisors and classmates. Hence, don’t put your hard work into such a serious risk.

If required, you can also double-check work through a plagiarism checker. You must also consider taking expert advice on your content. Make sure your hard work does not go in vain!

Failing in writing an impressive thesis statement

Writing a precise Thesis statement is yet another most important part of a Thesis paper. Choosing an excellent topic and developing a comprehensive paper will be not enough if your Thesis statement is not magnificent enough. Your thesis statement must be comprehensive, bold, attractive, reliable, trustworthy, and precise. After all, this will be the first and the initial step where readers will get to know and engage in your research.

Let’s take a note of the further thing you should consider while writing a thesis statement:

Understand and carefully analyze your Thesis topic.

Avoid any sort of grammatical errors and mistakes.

Do not overflow your Thesis Statement with unnecessary words and paragraphs. Remember, this is just a kind of blueprint for your Thesis paper.

Your Thesis statement must have the ability to make your readers curious about what’s about to come in your research paper.

Avoid anything which concludes with unnecessary references or a base.

Not taking professional feedback or suggestions

Once you have prepared a draft of your proposal, always consider soliciting as much feedback as you can. Take feedback from your supervisors, seniors, fellow mates, etc. When you will take feedback on your topic it will automatically help you to work better on your mistakes. Note that it might be hard for you to take critics healthily, thus in that case try to take a gap of 24 hours between receiving the feedback and acting on it. This will make you more responsive to your critiques.

We hope this article will be helpful for you in your proposal journey. Best of luck with your proposal journey!
