How teaching is carried out in schools influences the education system. It has exploded the new technologies and innovations. The experts believe that this technology explosion can take the education system towards incredible growth.

How the technology is changing the education scenario

The number of inventions is continuously changing the existing education profession. Many are of the belief that it can abandon traditional classroom education in the near future. It will not be able to prepare students for the challenges and demands of the fast pacing world nowadays.

On the other side, sceptics are of different opinions. They believe one should carefully do the immediate implementation of modern technologies in the classrooms. It is to avoid potential consequences such as:

    • Social gap widening
    • Individuals who have a mental illness, and
    • The regulation of cognitive and academic development in children

Considering the arguments from both sides helps you. You can understand the advantages and disadvantages of using technology in education. Besides, you know how it impacts the students in today’s world.

Many educational institutions borrow instalment loans for bad credit from direct lenders only. They do so to gather more funds while implementing the latest technology.

Advantages of the technology in education

Over the last few decades, technology has paved the way into the classroom. It is proven a blessing for young students and teachers. In other words, technology has introduced a wide range of gadgets. The internet is to make the learning process easier and enjoyable.

Some of the key benefits are

    1. Providing a better active experience of learning and teaching process

Learning for students has become active and productive. It happens due to the introduction of logical gadgets like mobiles, tablets and computers.

Now, there are multiple applications, videos, digital eBooks, etc. They are interactive and graphically explained. These are available all over the internet and accessible through these gadgets for students.

Students can access this interactive material whenever they want to. Hence, they can make the learning process much more engaging. Not only this, technology has provided the opportunity for students. They can dig deeper into any area of their interest. It further helps them to recognise their interest and talents for future professions.

Not only for students but technology also comes as a blessing for teachers. They can also share their knowledge and experience through multiple interactive mediums and a wider audience of students.

    1. Access to unlimited information and data from a variety of sources

Students are approaching learning with more interest and enthusiasm. They have access to various topics on ongoing research material, available at just one click. It was impossible to get in earlier times.

What has changed is, technology has brought the information closer and easier to access, just a few clicks away. It is better than:

    • Carrying a huge pile of books
    • Going from library to library or physically making lots of notes

Well defined queries can get students additional insights into the topics and allow them to do further research. Hence, students can have the training according to the modern technology. Such education also helps in learning how to approach the correct information and read literature.

    1. Digital literacy

Young children cannot simply acquire the level of skills demanded or required in today’s corporate world.

By introducing technology as a part of education, students can learn technology. They can acquire the required digital skill set that is sought highly in professions these days.

This form of learning also helps those who do not have access to technology at home. Hence, it is reducing the technology gap between digitally literate and illiterate people.

Many schools are looking for emergency cash loans to implement the latest technology. They want to help their students to stay updated with the latest trends.

    1. Lesser educational cost

The advent of technology in the education sector has made resources more accessible. It is in return, has reduced the tuition fees need for physical books. It has also reduced the price of the books, even production in school supplies.

The concept of eBooks has made things easier and accessible for low-income families. It has helped students from such families with the opportunity to learn on equal terms.

Another way, it has also reduced the pressure on parents of high performance. It arises due to significant investments in the child’s education. It is primarily for low- or mid-income families.

    1. Better insights for students’ performance

Earlier, teachers used to spend a lot of time evaluating the academic performance of students. It used to be a tedious and ineffective way of performance evaluation to send feedback. This was even impractical for classes with higher strengths of students.

However, digital technology is reaching into classrooms with technology devices on the internet available. It has made the teacher job has also become more accessible and practical. They can analyse and evaluate the performance of each of the students. They can provide advice or guidelines specific to each of the students. It would help them in their learning process.

There are educational software or platforms. These allow the teachers to collect data on the performance of each student. They can have assignment tests or classes with enhanced features. Besides, they have clear insights regarding students in weak areas and can take them in the right direction.

In addition to that, teachers can now modify their lessons based on the insights from students’ performance. They can make amendments in their course curriculum or pace of teaching.

    1. Real-time learning versus learning at the home page

While in earlier times, the pace was the only way for a student to miss a difficult task. These are on those topics covered in the educational institution. Somehow or for some other reason, they were covering it again.

Thank you to the technology for allowing students to control to do learning at their own pace. It also provides flexibility to the teachers in terms of sharing knowledge and content with students.

Technology has given birth to virtual classrooms. They have real-time learning and asynchronous learning. It can happen simultaneously where students have the flexibility to choose what and when to study.

Listening to the teacher in a physical classroom and your peers allows you to socialise. You get face-to-face interaction with the teacher.

Virtual classrooms have been a boon to students. These students are independent and confident in managing their time management. They show commitment skills from wherever whenever they feel like it.

Some Disadvantages of Technology in education

Being an optimist and believe in education is one thing. It is also essential not to lose sight of the other side of technology in education. Many education experts suggest that too much use of technology in education has its disadvantages. It has adverse effects on the quality of student life and their development.

    1. Distractions for students inside and outside the classroom

The continuous use of mobile phones, tablets, and computers throughout the day in the name of education and learning makes the brain accustomed to entertaining, intensive, and short-term content that stimulate their minds.

It also promotes lethargy and shortcuts in the learning process. The prolonged usage of gadgets, exposure to social media video games videos come with the package. It not only distracts but also poses a challenge in the learning and development of students.

Various researches have established some facts. Too much use of technology and gadgets reduces the attention span of children. It, in turn, affects the overall development.

Hence, despite the good intentions, teaching and learning through technology should be kept limited. It is at least within the classroom and to the subject or when necessary.

Excess use of technology can lead to various scams and problems in educational institutions. It can make the efforts of the teachers and students go in vain.

    1. Easy to cheat during examinations

Cheating during the exams is a big challenge for teachers. It defies the whole purpose of examination. It is for the teacher to have an insight into student understanding.

With online tests and access to gadgets, this challenge has aggravated teachers’ vigilance going for a toss. Teachers cannot afford to a vigil or know if the student is sourcing information from other sources or devices during the test. It is especially when the tests are online.

This poses long-term consequences for educational institutions. They can become unable to guarantee the knowledge or skill level of the student. It is required for higher levels of education or jobs.
