Design can be seen anywhere and everywhere. Your homes, vehicles, clothes, etc. everything is designed. If you get your space designed by an interior designer, you can consider some eco-friendly interior design styles. Before looking at these design options, you should have a fair understanding of what is sustainable design. This style of design aims to eliminate all negative environmental effects and help you decorate your home in such a way that you can improve your carbon footprint.  The main objective is to minimize waste, create a healthy environment, and reduce the utilization of renewable assets. These sustainable design ideas help in ecological protection and help in diminishing the utilization of non-renewable resources, minimizing waste, and help in creating a productive environment.

Given below are some eco-friendly design ideas from the point of view of an interior designer-

    1. Energy-efficient design

Energy consumption is believed to be one of the most significant contributors that help in changing the environment. Buildings play a major role in greenhouse gas emissions. So, if an interior designer plans well he can improve a building’s energy efficiency by decreasing the measure of energy that is needed for lighting, heating, as well as running appliances. Interior designers have control overheating and lighting factors. Since most of the building’s heat escapes through windows, the interior designer makes sure that the windows are of high quality and offer good insulation. Picking up the right colors can also help in saving energy because light colors reflect more light.

    2. Waste reduction management

Again, an interior designer has a lot of power when it comes to reducing waste. Coming up with ways of using old-fashioned yet functional objects instead of discarding them is the new normal. Interior designers tend to make use of synthetic materials that are made from recycled waste or can be renewed. This helps in reducing the depletion of resources.

    3. Health eco-system design

When you plan to get your home designed in a healthy manner there are several points that you should consider like checking the quality of air, ventilation, heating, lighting, and acoustics. You should understand that toxic emissions are the root cause of indoor air pollution. So you should avoid furniture and equipment that are treated with harmful chemicals. Plants are a great way when it comes to the proper circulation of air. You will be amazed to know that carpets help in improving air quality because they trap germs, dust particles, and allergens from the air.

    4. Choosing eco-friendly materials

You should understand that going green doesn’t always mean that you install solar panels in your home, choose ways to conserve water or reduce electricity usage. Another thing that play an important role in leading a sustainable lifestyle is that you choose décor elements that are made up of sustainable material. choosing eco-friendly ways for your furnishings, floor coverings, and other architectural design help in creating a healthier environment. You should also go for eco-friendly finishes like milk paint, non-toxic paint, etc. Lastly, you can go for sustainable lighting options too.

Examine light fixtures to make sure that there is no heat loss

You might not be aware that a home’s doorways and windows are the biggest sources of heat loss but they are not the only ones.  You will be surprised to know that recessed ceiling lights can also allow heat to escape through the loft. If you are involved in inspecting your lights periodically will help in adding extra insulation around the fixtures and also to retain heat. You can go for green light bulbs because they are energy efficient and help in saving money as well.

Tips for an eco-friendly design makeover

    1. Using plants as decorations because they offer oxygen and filter out harmful chemicals from the air. They also look beautiful and promote lovely fragrances.
    2. Letting the light in- The right amount of light can make all the difference in your space. You should try to maximize the flow of natural sunlight in your space.
    3. Try to avoid products that have VOC content- VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compounds. The chemicals that evaporate at room temperature are called VOC. They are found in paints, cleaning products, adhesives, etc.
    4. Opt for natural textiles and finishes- Many things in the house should be made up of natural materials like pillows, mattresses, beddings, and upholstery. Carpets and rugs should be created using natural materials like wool, jute, or cotton. Jute helps in adding texture to the space and can be used to make your furniture pieces like sofa, ottoman, upholstery, and headboard. All this might cost a few extra bucks but are safe in terms of the environment.
    5. Choose furniture that is made up of natural materials- if you wish to make your home’s interior eco-friendly, you should choose furniture that is made from natural wood or sustainable materials.
    6. Go for wooden or stone-based flooring. Always remember to go minimalistic with your home interiors. This will help in giving a clutter-free look and will make your space more spacious as well as pleasing to the eye.
    7. You should also make sure that you are not cleaning your home with toxic cleaners.

    Conclusion

Sustainable design options are not only versatile but add an aesthetic look to your home without harming the environment.   If you wish to go for an eco-friendly design style, you should get in touch with the best interior designer in town who can offer great suggestions. You can go for bamboo partitions because they are eco-friendly, natural, and offer a calming effect to your room. Terracotta flooring is also a great option for your home. Lastly, you can choose a wooden false ceiling to envisage the beauty of nature. Interior designers are the creators of the space where you live in. If you get your home designed by an interior designer using sustainable ways, then you can take care of the environment and make a bigger chance in society.
