How to Draw a Dandelion – Let’s Get Started!
Step 1
This first step in our guide on how to draw a dandelion may require some patience and a steady hand. It would help if you started this dandelion by drawing a slightly oval shape that forms the center of the dandelion. Then draw slightly curved lines coming out of this central oval. Each has a small circle at the end, but you can use dots instead.
When you have completed these aspects, you can draw the stem of the dandelion. You should use a very sharp pencil or a fine point pen for this part. Ideally, you draw two curved lines that are closely parallel to each other.
If it’s too difficult, you can stretch them or use one thicker line instead of these two thin lines.
Step 2
For this part of your dandelion drawing, we will add a second small dandelion below the first. This dandelion will be drawn following the same steps you used for the first one, except this time it’s smaller and lower. The stem of this specimen will also be slightly more curved than the first.
Step 3
In this step of our how to draw a dandelion guide, we will add another dandelion to make a beautiful trio. Again, you can use the tips from step one to draw this third one. It will be a bit further away from the previous two you drew. Now that you have all your dandelions, we’ll start adding details in the next few steps.
Step 4
One of the most remarkable characteristics of a dandelion is its light seeds that flutter in the wind. We will start drawing them in this part of your dandelion drawing. This part may seem complicated, but it’s not that hard! Draw a few small curved lines from the center of each small arm of the dandelion. Once you’ve drawn one or two, you’ll have the hang of it in no time!
step 5
Now that you have mastered drawing these seeds, you can finish the sources for the remaining dandelions in this step of our guide to drawing a dandelion. Continue covering the remaining dandelions as you did in the previous step to fill them with those beautiful seeds. The dandelion in the lower right has a little less seed because we’ll show some drift in the next step.
step 6
We will finish your dandelion drawing by adding some final details in this part. To complete the steps in this guide, all you need to do is remove a few floating seeds from the dandelion to the right. These look a lot like the ones you drew on the dandelions earlier, except they’re in the air.
Before going to the last step, you can add any additional details you want. Maybe you could draw a background to show where these dandelions are growing! You can also draw animals for the background, maybe a cute bunny. These are just a few ideas, but how do you plan to finish this dandelion drawing?
step 7
Now that your picture is complete, you can finish this tutorial on how to draw a dandelion by adding color!
In our reference image, we used green for the crotch and placed a yellow dot in the center of each dandelion.
However, there are plenty of things you can do to add other colors you might like! You can use your favorite colors on the lines of the dandelion to give it a more elegant look.
If you drew a background or additional elements, you can also color them for even more color variations. For a design like this, some watercolors would create a soft look to match this delicate dandelion. Any medium you use will add something beautiful to your image, but we can hardly imagine
