From Saturday, December. 15 until January 6 Families can enjoy an animal-themed twist on traditional holidays during The Zoo’s annual Jungle Bells celebration. The Zoo will be up until p.m. every night, except for December. 24 the time it closes around five p.m. What kind of animal will get its wings each when the bells of the jungle ring? Find out this month during the Jungle Bells celebration, when the San Diego Zoo is transformed into an enchanting winter adventure. The nightly tree-lighting ceremony with bell ringers filling up the air with music and animated animal figures dotted across the areas. Dr Zoolittle hosts the interactive “Night Before Christmas” performance which is a great way to meet new people in the “Animal Christmas Magic” Season” animal shows. Driving-Thru Lights for Christmas
We San Diegans are indeed known for driving through lanes, so why don’t we take the opportunity to visit the Christmas lights of the Del Mar Fairgrounds’ Holiday of Lights display? With over 400 lights and animated scenes, the 1.5-mile journey around the famed Del Mar Racetrack is sure to get all ages one to 100 in the Christmas spirit. With returning holiday classics like Toyland, Candy Cane Lane, Treasures by the Lake and Elves at Play, the Christmas tradition of 2012 continues beginning on the night of Nov. 22 (Thanksgiving) and continuing until Tuesday, January 1st, 2013 (closed on Mondays on November 26, December 3 and 10 December ).
Ice Skate Outdoors

See the Floating Christmas Lights on Parade
It’s the perfect way to experience San Diego: the 2012 annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights. The event will be held in December. 9 and 16 2012, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. See more than 80 boats, decorated with lights and cruise along through a 7.5-mile route along San Diego Bay. The theme for 2012 is “Our 41st Anniversary, USS Santa Claus” and is sure to be even better than the previous. The best vantage points from the shoreline include the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, Harbor Island and Coronado.
Participate in the Holiday Bowl Big Balloon Parade
In the spirit of parades…the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl Parade at 10 a.m. on December. 27 2012 is famous for one thing that is balloons. The parade is dubbed “America’s largest balloon parade,” over 30 gigantic balloons will take to the air along the 1-mile route that runs along the Embarcadero as well as drill teams, bands and much more. This parade is the precursor to the main event which is The Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium, one of the most thrilling and well-known bowl games. Following the Parade, head to the Family Festival at the Broadway Pier.

Let the Grinch
“How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” Old Globe Theater’s production of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” has become an annual classic of the holiday season. Its director, well-known Director Jack O’Brien, brings to life the iconic Dr Seuss book with amazing sets and unforgettable performances. The 2012 production runs from November. 17 until December. 29.

Of course, what is Christmas without Nutcracker? There’s an abundance of performances of this classic. In 2012, San Diego Civic Youth Ballet is pleased to present the world premiere of the completely revamped Nutcracker. The performances will take place in the Casa del Prado Theater in Balboa Park on December 9-22 the year 2012.
