Is it possible to catch a cold from the air conditioner?
If used improperly, the air conditioner, like any other technique, can be harmful. It is enough to follow a few simple rules to avoid this:
The jet of cold air from the indoor unit of the air conditioner is directed forward and downward, so the air conditioner should be located on the side of the workplace in order to avoid direct air flow to people. You can direct the air flow with the help of vertical and horizontal blinds (vertical blinds are most often not controlled from the remote control, they can be controlled manually).
If during the day you regularly leave the room, you should keep a small temperature difference between the outdoor and indoor air so that the body adapts to the temperature difference without any problems. That is, when the air temperature outside is 30-35 degrees, the temperature in the room should fluctuate in the range of 22-24 degrees. It is worth noting that each situation is individual, for example, with a heat of 40 degrees, the temperature in the room can be increased to 25-27 degrees, however, depending on the state of health and individual comfortable temperature, the range can be expanded. It must be remembered that when the air is cooled, its humidity decreases, and therefore there will be no discomfort even at a relatively high temperature.
The filters of the indoor unit must be regularly cleaned of dust. It is recommended to call specialists before the start of the season. Preventive work includes cleaning the radiator of the indoor unit, which will prevent the development of mold inside the air conditioner.
Are there air conditioners without an external unit?
There are monoblock (mobile and window) air conditioners. They do not have an external unit. Also, in some stores you can find “coolers” that look like mobile air conditioners. Sellers often pass them off as mobile air conditioners, but they have nothing to do with them. Such devices are an ordinary humidifier with a powerful fan. The effect of such a device is noticeable in the first half hour, when the air is slightly cooled due to the evaporation of water, but subsequently the air will heat up again, and due to the increased humidity, it will become harder to bear the heat. Can the air conditioner supply fresh air from outside?
There is a certain type of air conditioner with an inflow, or rather a mixture of air. There are companies that offer air conditioners with air supply and humidification function. The maximum air supply in these models reaches 32m³ / h. These are leading figures in comparison with similar models from other manufacturers.
However, only ducted air conditioners provide real air flow. In such systems air admixture up to 25% is possible. In cassette and ceiling air conditioners, a small hole is provided in the body of the indoor unit, through which fresh air is supplied – only 5-10% of the total.
Can I keep warm in winter with an air conditioner?
In most cases, the operation of the air conditioner in heating mode is possible only at a temperature not lower than -5 degrees. Otherwise, the compressor may fail.
However, heating at temperatures below 5 degrees is often required, especially in spring and autumn, in the absence of central heating. In this case, it is possible to use the air conditioner in heating mode when installing a special “winter” kit.

Is it possible to install the outdoor unit of a split system on a glazed balcony?
Installation of an outdoor unit on a glazed balcony should only be allowed as a last resort. And only if there are windows that open and one of them is located directly opposite the outdoor unit. This is due to the presence of a powerful fan inside the outdoor unit, which cools the evaporator of the air conditioner with air flow. The location of the outdoor unit in an open space is considered ideal.
What maintenance is required for an air conditioner (AC)?
To prolong the life of the air conditioner, avoid performance degradation and save the resource. It is necessary to carry out regular preventive maintenance of the air conditioner. What exactly needs to be done with the conditioner and how often?
Independently, the owner of the air conditioner can perform only one type of maintenance – cleaning the filters of the indoor unit.
Other types of work must be carried out with the participation of service specialists. Maintenance is required 1-2 times a year (usually in winter and spring)
